Alan Oram
Director
The founder and Director of Oil Services South West Ltd. started his engineering life courtesy of the Royal Navy, culminating as a Chief Petty Officer responsible for the engines of Britain’s first nuclear submarine.
He then joined the staff of an American oil company off-shore as a mechanical engineer, both building platforms and producing North Sea Oil.
Taking voluntary redundancy in 1994, Alan sought and gained product training from several major boiler manufacturers, including Grant, Worcester, Aga, Rayburn and Stanley. Having established both technical and personal relationships with the manufacturers, he founded Oil Services South West.
With the natural growth due to recommendations from existing customers, manufacturers and fuel suppliers, Oil Services South West became a limited company in the year 2000.
Alan continues to fulfill an active personal role in the day-to-day business operations, believes in scruples and is convinced the good reputation that Oil Services South West Ltd. enjoys is due to honesty, professionalism and good service. Outside of work, Alan’s a keen musician and ‘rocker’ (!) and has been seen performing around many local (and not so local!) music venues and pubs performing as the ‘Grumpy Bassist’ for a local rock band.
Chris Oram
Co-Director
Since the advent of Oil Services South West Ltd. Chris, Alan’s wife, has supported and aided the successful running of the business as Co-Director.
Chris tends primarily to the office-based element of the business; managing telephone enquiries, arranging appointments, the endless task of accounting and most importantly, keeping the engineers in line and organised!
Chris very often is the first port of call, the first voice you hear for many of our customers, and always offers efficient and friendly service and support.
She will always endeavour to try and retrieve answers to your questions as soon as she possibly can, although on occasions, due to the “black hole” mobile phone service network that our engineers often find themselves in, this sometimes cannot be instantaneous! Away from work, Chris is an avid artist, painting and drawing all number of things, including landscapes, seascapes and her pooch Indiana of course in watercolour, oils or ink!
Bob Bailey
Service Engineer
Since 1994, Bob has been working for Oil Services South West Ltd. and his loyalty is reflected in our customer base, recognising Bob as our valued, well-mannered and knowledgeable Servicing Engineer.
Originally, Bob hailed from an agricultural background and since beginning his career with Oil Services South West Ltd. he has been personally trained by Alan Oram.
Bob has also attended numerous manufacturer’s training courses and his extensive knowledge and experience has often enabled prompt rectifications of those “horrible” intermittent faults – you know, the ones that never occur when engineers arrive!
It is also often remarked that Bob has that “extra-special” caring touch often required by our customers’ Agas and Rayburns, much to the satisfaction of our customers!
Bob carries many years’ worth of servicing expertise which lends itself to offering such a trustworthy and reliable service.
Outside of work, Bob’s a keen animal-lover, and has always had a veritable menagerie to look after, from giant iguanas, to the more conventional dog!
He’s also a dab-hand at computers too; managing two online servers for the gaming community in Atlanta, Georgia (US) and has to advise and deal with numerous strangers over the internet!
He’s got a great knowledge of the mechanics of building gaming computers and testing up and coming software and gadgets and constantly pushing barriers in technology.
Bob gets great pleasure from helping people out with any problems they may have.
Rob Holland
Service Engineer
Rob is the latest valued addition to the Oil Services South West Ltd. team, joining us in 2010 as our second Service Engineer and already he’s established a great relationship with our customer base.
When Rob left school, he initially trained as a butcher, but in 2004 he put himself through a plumbing course gaining his NVQ Level 2 and also OFTEC qualifications.
Working as a plumber for 5 years, his experience of carrying out all installation works from whole-house installations to upgrading heating systems has blended and contributed to his role with Oil Services South West Ltd. being heavily involved in both our servicing side as well as our installation projects.
Since joining Oil Services South West Ltd. Rob has also been given additional training by Alan Oram, and has already proved to be another beacon of Oil Services South West Ltd.’s principles of well-mannered, quality friendly service, professionalism and reliability. Rob’s a real community man too, outside of work, he’s a football coach for Years 3 and 4 (ages 7-8) for a local primary school, is the Secretary of his local football club, is an avid football player or course as well and he organises numerous community events locally.
